Please leave your E-mail address or send me a seperate E-mail so I can write. Several have left messages and I wanted to reply but had no address.

My Guest book got full and had to be split so I broke it down to yearly pages so it would be easier to look things up.

Comments:To my fellow (and women) comrades-in-arms. If you are reading this, you made it through that horrible war. I congratulate you and offer a belated welcome home. I can understand that many of you do not have pleasant memories of Viet Nam and it is quite understandable. But there are many people out there who lived in Viet Nam as military, diplomatic, missionary and business dependents who lived, went to school there and loved it and I am one of them. My dad was stationed in Saigon, Sgt Maj. Of MAAG (1960 or thereabouts) and my mother, sister and I joined him. We lived above the PX and commissary on Phan Dinh Phung street until my dad retired in 1963 and went to work for USOM (today USAID). My family was evacuated in 1965. I returned to Viet Nam in 1968-1969 as a GI and was stationed at Long Binh with the 12th CAG. Missed Tet by about a week. Again returned to Viet Nam in 1973 while on my way to Phnom Penh for an assignment and was evaluated from there just before the countr

I am amused to note that your recent photos look almost exactly as i remember Bien Hoa and Long Binh from 1969. I arrived at Ben Hoa, spent a couple of months at Plantation (II Field Force) was transfered to Dong Tam and was there when the 9th went home. We, along with our dusters were caravaned with cobra air support to Camp Thompson, near Long Binh. I left the same way I arrived... Bien Hoa. Thanks for your work. Ron Hancock

I was with the 538th and 48th Transportation Companies in Tanker Valley. We hauled jet fuel, mogas and diesel into the Mekong Delta, the Central Highlands and on a few trips to Vung Tau. I joined the Army out of high school (my story is on my YouTube Bio) and hit Long Bihn at age 19. I'll contact you once my footage is on YouTube. Good luck.

I have always wanted to go back. I travel a lot to SE Asia in my work but never to Vietnam. I am leaving tomorrow for Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. I was in India earlier this year. I know that there are very cheap flights on Tiger Air out of Singapore to Vietnam and one of there days I will try to get there.

I would like to add that any Vietnam veteran who even is thinking about and can afford the trip back. GO NOW, you aren't getting any younger and it gets rough trying to climb some of those hills and mountains, even now and I'm 59. No, longer 19 year old draftee. Go, you'll never regret it. curtis

I fell in love while in Japan so went back there married the girl and got a Job with the Navy as a civilian and remained in Japan until 2005. Now we (that same Japanese girl) live in Deltona Florida happily retired. While working for the Navy we set up a communications site in Thailand every year for an exercise. In 2002 I took a few days leave from the exercise and went back to Saigon. I had worked at Phu Lam Signal 63 until Dec 64. I enjoyed my return trip but did was not there long enough to see much more than down town Saigon and a visit to Phu Lam. I enjoyed your site. I may visit VN and Thailand again next year. Comments:I keep coming back to your site time and again. So many memories, I was stationed at Long Binh from early 1971 till Nov 1972 when we turned it over to the ARVN's. Saw the flag lowered for the last time and for me, it was kind of sad, but then it was on to Saigon and MACV. I was assigned fired to the Area Communications Company and worked in Russell Major Relay and when it closed, to the Command Communications Company and worked in the USARV Commcenter. Anybody remember the building Russell was in, I can find our barrachs, but not the Relay on your map. I seen a lot of closings going on in RVN, I left I think on the 20th of March, 1973. It was time for my second tour in Bangkok. I will keep right on coming back to your site, thought it was time to say thank you for the memories.

Comments:Excellent site! I originally discovered the Google map while logged on to a scale model site called HyperScale. Someone had posted the Long Binh image and so I panned across the screen. Much to my amazemnet, I think that I have located my old stomping grounds, now appears to be overgrown. It is located NE of what was the USARV headquarter across the stream There is a purple cast from the shadows in the area that I believe where our tents were located. I was with the HHC, 36th Signal Battalion at Camp Gerry. The bulk of our unit arrived just after Thanksgiving 1966. We had crossed the Pacific on the Geiger anchoing off Vung Tau. Then we boarded landing creaft (LCM-6?) to the shore and on to th airfield. We flew on USAF C-123s to Bien Hoa and then cattle car to Camp Gerry. The ammo dump you have mentioned blew up one night in February 1967 while I was on duty by myself in our communications center. Needless to say, the whole area was under alert. But the VC sappers had already slipped

I have a picture I took from the window of the horse/rider statue at the driving circle stop in Siagon July/Aug of 68. I was training Sp4 Ron Speight on that run as I was taking the Dispacther job over from Sp 5 Robinson who was rotating out. I ended up with both the Bien Hoa and Siagon after the Siagon CPO van overturned killing several workers, 1 of them the lady Kim from my barracks. Woody Woodward was also in that barrack. Then the Bien Hoa driver killed a civilian pedestrian while showing me that route.

Comments:It's amazing that you had so many pictures about VN to post on your website. You also had remarks in detail about each picture. Some of your pictures touched me so deep, especially pictures about Bien Hoa. I was a South VN Army officer. I was born in Bien Hoa. My home was a mile or so from BienHoa market. In my young age, I went to Nguyen Du elementary school. I recall the time I was in some of the classrooms that showed in your picture. It was almost 50 years ago. I went to war from 1971 to 1975, stationed in Moc Hoa, Kien Tuong. After the war I went straight to concentration camp for 5 years, escaped to USA in 1980. There was not a single picture of my life or VN that I could cary with me. There were only bitter memories in my mind. We lost the war. So many people had sacrified or lost their lives during the war for nothing. I haven't had a chance to go back to visit. Your website is very informative and touching. Good job, Henry.

Comments:In country 1/67 through 1/68 so our time overlapped. Was with 41st Engineer Company (PC) which built the POL unloading point, hung the fence fabric around the Saigon Docks and did a lot of other engineering work there. Spent six months driving truck for them all over the area and south. Then was in Delta 62nd Engineers driving 5 ton and 10 ton trucks hauling supplies from the RMKBRJ yard down to the area around Bien Luc in the delta. Was fun seeing your pictures. When they brought in the lawn mowers I knew it was time to leave.

Comments:I was a naval advisor 3/70 to 3/71 and worked out of the VN Navy HQ compound. I was billeted in the Plaza Hotel on Tran Hung Dao St. My stay in VN changed my life in ways that I'm still realizing. My wife and I hope to take a trip that will include a few days in Saigon/Vung Tau area. I can really relate to your fascination and bittersweet relationship with VN and I really appreciate your site. I have so many thoughts and questions, I don't know where to begin. Thanks

Comments:Henry I came across your website while searching for information on Bien Hoa and Long Binh. I am a Vietnamese girl who was born in VN, but moved to the US when I was 10 years old. Within the last 21 years, I have gone back 3 times, and in a few weeks, I will be back once again. This time, I am bring my non-Vietnamese husband. I know it will be an absolutely amazign time for him. Thank you so much for posting all of these pictures. This is a great way for me to "prepare" my husband for what is yet to come when he sees my "home". When I lived in VN, my house was walking distance from Long Binh. In fact, my grandparents had farms in Long Binh. I lived at their farm on several occasions. I remember that it was just a beautiful place. The last few times I went back, all the beaufiful vegetation and open land were gone. I was very saddened by that. Thanks again for sharing your memories. I am very excited about our trip scheduled for July 7th, 2007. Thu Trang Edstrom (Nguyen)

Comments:I was stationed at Bien Hoa 537th PSC April 68-Oct 69. Handling the records of many maint units was a priviledge. Always made sure requests for R&R 's,and orders for home were a priority. Had a hooch buddy named Ben Bowman I've tried to find for years. Maybe he'll see this. Although most of my war was perimeter guard and a few stay mortars and rockets, I was glad to help in any way I could with records.

Comments:What a walk on memory lane! I arrived in-country from USATSCH and was first assigned to the 101st in Ahn Khe at the 90th Replacement Bn. in Long Bihn. Change of plans and July 69 to 70 (11 months, 28 days) I was assigned to the 520th/537th PSC in Bien Hoa. Pulled guard duty in bunkers 20 to 22 overlooking Xuan Loc when I wasn't handling officer records for Saigon Support Command.(DA 41,66, 201) From memory, some of the troops: Sgt. Scarborough (bronze star),Dwight Aldinger, Chaney, Kafka, Wade, Capt. Robert J. Albertazzi (later COS for the 101st Airborne). Some of the characters in my hootch and work place: Wade Kirdahi from Brooklyn, slick-titted worm (bronze star...made E-6 in under 2), Capt. George Petrakus, Al Cohen, CW2 Kermit J. Brazley, Sam Mankin from Georgia. (I was at times referred to affectionately as spic) Francisco Baez came through and was assigned to a Trans Company. During monsoon season, I thought it rained sideways. Some friends Liet, Bui, Tia, Kim Ahn Trung Thi. A

Comments:I had a very good family friend of the name Verbal Lee Bishop. He was stationed at Long Binh. I came across a couple of photos he had sent back of a Bob Hope Christmas show that Neil Armstrong was walking out on the stage. Lee died back in the early 70's from agent orange cancer. I was just thinking of him and came across your page. His family still lives here in Kentucky.
